Event Description

Sorry, but registration has closed for the Google News Lab workshop.

We will have another in the next year.

Grab your smartphone and your laptop and come create stunning visuals using cutting edge Google News Lab applications. You will learn to make powerful images that demand audience attention as they help tell your story. You will use "Cardboard" to create immersive 360 degree photographs with your phone.  You will create stunning video which zooms uninterrupted from an outer space view of our planet to any place on earth. You will create interactive maps using data, verify the authenticity of photographs and far too much more to describe here. It is crazy good stuff!

Instructor Sandra Gonzales, sponsored by the Society of Professional Journalists and trained by Google, teaches the software using practical examples of recent news coverage across the nation.

Preparation:
1) Bring your fully charged smartphone and your laptop
2) Download Google Earth Pro to both.
3) Create a gmail account, if you do not already have one.

You will receive a map, and further directions and a food preference response form a few days before the workshop.

The Texas A&M University-San Antonio and San Antonio Pro chapters of the Society of Professional Journalists sponsor this workshop without charge, but request a $5 donation to help defray the cost of lunch. We begin the day with a 90-minute smorgasbord of visuals,  take a 30-minute lunch break, and resume with two more sessions in the afternoon, capping the day off with the 360 degree photographs..
